HCS Welcomes New Administrative Leaders

As we prepare for another exciting school year, we are pleased to welcome new leaders to our administrative team. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Mathew Epps, Coordinator of RC3 and Career & Technical Education; Emily Fogleman, Assistant Principal of Brock's Gap Intermediate School; and Mallory Creel, Assistant Principal of Greystone Elementary School.

RC3 Coordinator - Dr Mathew Epps

Hoover City Schools is proud to announce Dr. Mathew Epps as the new Coordinator of the Riverchase Career Connection Center (RC3), bringing 20 years of educational experience and extensive knowledge of career and technical education opportunities for students.

Dr. Epps will join Hoover City Schools from Shelby County Schools, where he currently serves as the principal of the Shelby County Career Technical Education Center (CTEC). In that role, he has led countywide career and technical education programs and expanded opportunities for students through dual enrollment, industry partnerships, workforce credentials, internships, job shadowing experiences, and industry tours. At CTEC, he launched on-campus dual enrollment programs in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Robotics and Manufacturing, securing grant funding to support program growth and increase student access to industry-recognized credentials. He also developed a student leadership program to encourage student voice and improve school culture through recognition and engagement initiatives. 

Throughout his career in education, Dr. Epps has served as a classroom teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and career and technical education principal. Prior to his current position, he served as the principal of Helena Middle School and as an assistant principal at Oak Mountain High School. Emily Fogleman - Brock’s Gap Intermediate Assistant Principal

Hoover City Schools is pleased to announce Emily Fogleman as Assistant Principal of Brock's Gap Intermediate School.

A familiar face in the Brock's Gap community, Fogleman brings 15 years of experience in education and currently serves as the Lead Enrichment Specialist for Hoover City Schools and as an Enrichment Specialist at Brock's Gap Intermediate. During her 11 years at BGIS, she has designed and implemented rigorous, concept-based learning experiences that engaged learners while supporting student achievement. In her district leadership role, she has led professional learning for elementary enrichment specialists, strengthening instructional alignment and program consistency across HCS. She began her career as a fifth-grade teacher at Rocky Ridge Elementary and has served students and families across the district through a variety of instructional and leadership roles.

At BGIS, Fogleman has played an active role in supporting the school's success, including assisting in the school’s recognition as a CLAS Banner School of Distinction. She also sponsored student organizations, including robotics, broadcast, and GEMS, and contributed to school leadership initiatives through her service on the School Leadership Team, the Behavior RTI Team, the Finley selection committee, and the House planning team. Mallory Creel - Greystone Elementary Assistant Principal

Hoover City Schools is pleased to announce Mallory Creel as Assistant Principal of Greystone Elementary School.

Creel brings 14 years of experience in education and currently serves as a math teacher at Berry Middle School. Prior to joining Hoover City Schools, she taught fifth grade in Homewood City Schools, where she helped promote the school's House System and student leadership and served on the Hope Institute Character Education Leadership Team. Throughout her career, she has worked to build a positive classroom culture that promotes student achievement, leadership, family communication, and student character development.

As a National Board Certified Teacher, Creel has served in numerous leadership roles, including participation on instructional leadership teams and contributions to school improvement initiatives. In addition to her classroom and leadership experience, she has served on the Alabama State College and Career Ready Mathematics Implementation Team and is AMSTI Math and Science trained and Orton-Gillingham certified. Her experience analyzing student data, leading collaborative efforts among educators, and building strong relationships with students and families has prepared her for this leadership position. Click here to read more about Mrs. Creel.
